Slackel

Slackel  è una distribuzione Linux basata su Slackware e Salix, utilizzante il desktop manager KDE sempre all”ultima versione. I propri repositori possono essere usati anche da Slackware e Salix per poter usare KDE.

Questa versione utilizza OpenBox come desktop enviroment

• Slackel 6.0.3 “Live Openbox” includes the latest 3.14.33 kernel and latest updates from Slackware’s ‘Current’ tree.
• The focus of this release has been to provide a lightweight and fast system and also to be easy for all users.
• The default web browser included in this release is Midori, while the default e-mail client is Claws-mail.
• The internet/network applications also include the Pidgin instant messaging application, the Transmission torrent client, the gFTP for connecting to (S)FTP servers, the Wicd Network Manager for connecting to wireless and wired networks and Sakis3g for connecting to 3G mobile networks.
• The office applications are Abiword, for any word processing tasks, the powerful Gnumeric spreadsheet and the Atril document viewer.
• In the multimedia section, Whaaw Media Player is here to cover video and audio playback, Exaile is included as a very capable music collection manager, while Brasero can be used to burn any sort of optical medium and Asunder to rip audio CDs.
• The Salix Codecs Installer is available in the menus for easy installation of restricted codecs.
• In the graphics section, Viewnior is used for viewing image files, Mtpaint is the default picture editor and Scrot is the snapshot utility. Simple Scan is included for using your scanner.
• Geany provides a full featured and lightweight programming IDE and Leafpad is included for simple text editing tasks.
• Several Openbox configuration tools have been included, like obconf, obkey and obmenu, so you can easily tweak your installation to your liking.

Conclusioni

La versione a 64 bit supporta il boot UEFI ma non SecureBoot.
